Bunless Burger Patties


Makes 4-5


  • 500g packet Silver Fern venison mince (or other mince of your choice)

  • 2 Tbs diced onion

  • 1 Tbs low sugar ketchup (I used Simon Gault’s ketchup, no added sugar)

  • Pinch each of dried thyme and rosemary

  • Salt and pepper



  • 1 slice thin bacon to wrap around burger (I used Farmland European thinly sliced streaky)

  • Cooked onions, capsicum, zucchini, mushrooms – or anything else you want to throw on the BBQ

To assemble:

  • Large, washed, iceberg lettuce leaves


Mix burger ingredients together well, then form into 4 or 5 patties. If using, wrap a slice of bacon around the patty.

Cook on the BBQ grill, along with veggies of your choice.

Place one or two large lettuce leaves on a plate, plate the patty in the centre and pile the cooked veggies on top.

It’s a bit messy eating it, so have a napkin handy!
